Guide Book Introduction | Australia | New South Wales | Queensland
South Australia | Tasmania | Victoria | Western Australia | General Handbooks

A list of every guide book I know of that includes overnight walks. Some are out of print and only available in libraries or as second hand books.

Information is minimal - some overnight walks are described in detail in the guides to Australia.

Kakadu and The Top End, (1st edition), by Mattias Breiter, published by Kangaroo Press, 1996, ISBN 0 86417 647 3. Primarily a tourist guide, there are only 4 pages on bushwalking but as it's the only advice, it's worth reading. There are no track notes, only advice on conditions and how to obtain a permit. Out of print, price was around A$20.

Larapinta Trail, (1st edition), by John Chapman and Monica Chapman, published by John Chapman, 2008, ISBN 978 1 920995 04 1. Detailed track notes for the 20 day walk along the MacDonnel Range near Alice Springs. Includes track notes for both directions along with colour topographic maps. Price is A$29.95

Take A Walk in Northern Territory's National Parks, by John & Lyn Daly, published by Take A Walk Publications, 2006, ISBN 0 9577931 5 4. Out-of-print- available as an ebook. While most walks in the guide are one day long, nine are multi-day walks. Notes tend ot be brief but adequate for expereinced walkers. Not all walks have maps and when provided they are very simple sketch maps. Price is A$29.95
